Black is my happy colour

BeFunky Collage 2

I’ve thought about it for a long time . . . should I really do that? Should I write a fashion blog? They are a dime a dozen. I am not a fashion addict and I had cultivated my own style all along.

I am in my late 50s, voluptuous and low-budget for clothing. There are loads of women like me, who have a striking difference. Often they dress as if they are off the chart and let there inner Mummy out. And it is those women whom I want to encourage. I’d like to motivate them to feel comfortable with themselves and the way they look and show them, that you can wear fashionable clothes at this “advanced age” without looking masqueraded.

I love it simple and clear. Florets, hearts, ruffles and rigmarole have no chance with me. My favorite color is black. Not because it makes one look slimmer, not because I am without any imagination or stylistically clumsy, but rather because it looks good on me and it matches my personality.

I’m neither trying to conceal anything nor am I wearing garments that are flatteringly cut. That brings us to the next point: I only have clothes which, when I look in the mirror, makes me say: “This is me and that’s how I like myself (alternatively a self confidant: “I’m so cool”).

From time to time I will now open my closet and show, how I underline my personality with my wardrobe and present my ample body.

My first outfit is ‘basic’. Straight-lined and with no frills. Every woman has these pieces in her closet.

Turtle neck: H&M

Pants: Tchibo

Cardigan: Primark

Necklace: Vintage

However, black is a tricky color. Women should be aware that this color could look bleak in mono chrome style and many unfortunately look as if they had a death in the family.

My wool coat has some cheerful, white stripes, it was a very cool day in England and a bright splash of color can’t hurt.

Coat: Cero-Etage

Crystal‘s Cupcakes in Dawley, UK, is not only a fantastic setting for a little photo shoot, but also sells the most incredible cupcakes I have ever had; of course I ate the ‘decoration’ on my table afterwards .

Next time I’ll show my shoes, without having taken a walk in the country  first.
